To the family:

Sadie was my aunt but I often thought of her as a Mom. She was kind, gentle, loving, compassionate, funny and list goes on. I would love to listen to her stories of when she was young. She would tell stories of my Granny Burge and my mother Geraldine. She worked with my Mother at The Toronto General Hospital and had many hilarious stories to tell regarding those days. I'd always love to visit her and Lloyd in the summer, and always came away with a full stomach and an offer to stay the night. Lloyd's and Sadie's hospitality knew no bounds. I will miss those visits Sadie but I know you are happy to be reunited with Lloyd and all your love ones. I was glad to have seen you in August. I will always love you and miss you.

" Surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows" Isaiah 53:4a
This verse came before me as Pat and I were looking to send a word to you and Carolyn to express our deepest sympathy for the loss of you mom. How comforting to know that there is one who cares so deeply about our griefs and sorrows.
"Jesus wept" John 11:35 The God of all creation comes along side to carry you during this difficult time. " Oh yes he cares, I know he cares, his heart is touched with my grief."

An Aunt is a blessing
It means so many things
Words could never tell
The joy an Aunt brings
An Aunt is a bond of faith
That even time can't sever
A gift to last all of our lives
An Aunt is forever

- Marilyn (surname unknown)

That ^ poem says it very well, and like my cousin Rose mentioned earlier, "I would love to listen to her stories of when she was young."

Aunt Sadie was a wonderful storyteller. It was a true joy to listen to her recall stories of people and places and events that she had encountered throughout her life. But as I had moved away to the mainland many, many years ago, those stories had been no longer in person but rather by phone, although luckily on numerous occasions.

But that fact did not make the conversations any less remarkable, if anything much more treasured.

Back during my childhood years in Moreton's Harbour, I spent a good portion of it visiting at or staying at Aunt Sadie's. The bed was warm, the table was good, the friendliness was even better.

Those days were some of the best years of my life.

I was fortunate to visit with Aunt Sadie a few months ago when I went down to Nfld. She was in good spirits, and recollected things of past & present. She spoke of the future in a wonderful manner.

Aunt Sadie, you will be truly missed, not only by your own very immediate family, but by all that met you ... including I, at the top of the admiration list of you.

Sincere Condolences to my cousins Christine, Glen and Dave.

To Christine, Glen and David,

Sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing. She was a wonderful person. Every time I saw her, she had a smile and a kind word. As a young boy growing up,I remember her kindness. As i walked by her house, I rememberered the smell of her home made bread. I was often the receipient of a loaf of bread and cookies. I remember her caring about my Mom when she was sick. I’m certain that she has received her reward in Heaven today. Be assured of our love and prayers today and the days to come. Danny and Renée Dearing, The Salvation Army, Fredericton.

To Christine, Glen, and Dave, I am so sorry for the loss of your Mom. Aunt Sadie was a wonderful person, with a heart of gold. I have many memories of staying at her house when I was just a young girl. I will cherish those memories always. I have always been grateful to your mom for saving my life when I was just a few years old. She saved me from drowning so I owe her my life. She was a good person and always opened up her home as if it was everyone's home. She was good to her guests, and to her family and friends.
I know how much you all love her and miss her and I know how hard the days ahead will be. Just cherish the memories and hold her in your heart always. Your Mom is at rest and at peace now, and with God and Jesus. There is no better place then that. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Love from your cousin Nitta.

To Christine, Dave, Glen and families,

We will always remember your mother's infectious smiles and laughs - a visit with your mother would always leave you feeling better. One of her last visits to the house in Moreton's Hbr. she spoke about Jose & Carl and the laughs they had together. Hope all of them are resting in peaceful company along with Lloyd and Dad. Deepest sympathies from our family to yours.

Dear Ones,

Just learning about the wonderful celebration of Sadie's life in the Church on Sunday.....She deserved every loving thought and tribute...A wonderful Christian lady.
I have very fond and loving memories of Sadie from my childhood in Bridgeport. We will miss one of the most fun loving and happiest people who ever live in Bridgeport. I made her laugh every time I called Lloyd...'the dandy long legs' - because of the wide strides in his walking...and he would make me chuckle when he told that he could walk from Moreton's Hr to Stuckless's Cove in Little Bridgeport in 8 Minutes...that's gotta bee a world record. She was so kind, generous, loveable, and sweet in all her ways. The last time we were together with Sadie and Lloyd was in our mansion on the hilltop..with the million dollar view....in Bridgeport...having a hallelujah gospel sing song with the Boydes and all the family. Memories will be cherished and she will be remembered in love and Christian hope.
