It is with heavy hearts, but eternal hope, that we announce the death of our dear mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Agnes Elizabeth Anstey (nee Perry).
Agnes was born on December 8, 1932 at Samson’s Island, Notre Dame Bay, NL, and she ascended to a new beginning on June 11, 2023, at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, NL. She had reached the ripe age of 90 years.
Pearce Anstey, husband of Agnes, predeceased her in August 2021. Agnes is survived by her fourteen children: Milton (Glenda), Dawson (Peggy), Josie (Rex), Glen (Loretta), Angus (Margaret), Newman, David, Una (Wayne), Colleen (Terry), Kent (Carol-Ann), Dale (Rod), Nola (Sheldon), Connie (Ken), and Clive (Marilee). Also left with fond and lovely memories are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as a large complement of extended family and friends.
Agnes was born to Samuel James Perry and Agnes Elizabeth Fudge. Her mother died a few days later as a result of childbirth complications. Agnes was fostered in the household of Myles Coulson Whiteway and Blanche Stuckless-Perry. Agnes had siblings: Myrtle, Dorcas, Vincent, Jack, and Fronie; and half siblings: Sadie, Hardy, Lucy, Melvin, Bernice, Hope, Joan, Norman, Samuel, Bruce, and Eldon.
Public visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 6 - 8 p.m., at New World Island Funeral Home, Summerford, NL. Funeral service will commence on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at New World Island Funeral Home, Summerford, with Pastor Russell Porter officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Pentecostal Church Cemetery, Cottlesville, NL.
In consideration of Agnes’ life-long commitment to her church and community, the family is requesting that donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to assist in the upkeep and maintenance of Salem Pentecostal Church Cemetery at Cottlesville.
An expression of appreciation is extended to the management and staff of White’s Family Care Residence, Brown’s Arm, NL, for the care and compassion that they provided to Agnes in her twilight years.
