It is with great sadness that the family of Albert Gordon Wheeler, age 89 years announce his passing on Thursday, October 17th, 2024, at the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander, NL.
Albert is predeceased by his parents, Howard John and Charlotte, as well as his sisters, Betty Sansome and Patricia West.
He leaves behind many cherished memories with his beloved wife of 66 years, Betty; his daughter Debbie (Gerry); his sons Randy (Trine) and Peter (Suzanne); and his grandchildren, Clinton, Miranda, Evan, and Dylan. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Sean, Walter, and Scarlett, as well as his brothers Dudley (Judy) and Weston, and his sister Jean (Lloyd) Baker.
Albert lived a long and fulfilling life, serving in the Canadian military and being an avid Legionnaire. He had a passion for woodworking, creating many beautiful pieces that are now treasured in the homes of his children. Additionally, he devoted many years to photography, both in capturing moments and developing his own pictures. An avid fisherman and hunter, Albert enjoyed many adventures in the great outdoors.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Resting at the Summerford United Church with public visitation on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will take place from the church on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.
Donations in Albert's memory may be given to the James Paton Memorial Health Centre, Gander, NL.
