Allister Clarence Jones

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Allister Clarence Jones, aged 87, on November 18, 2024 at Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre in Twillingate.

Predeceased by parents Clarence and May Jones, parents-in-law Raymond & Elsie Farr, brother George and sister Alma.

Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 64 years, Jean, along with children Colleen, Lorna (Edward), Christopher (Trudy), Jeanette (Terry); grandchildren Michelle, Amy, Joshua, Mitchell, Ryan, great-grandchildren Lucy, Owen, Brody, sister Mary (Terry), brother Frazer, brothers-in-law Harley (Ena), Ewen (Irene) and their families, along with nieces and nephews in other parts of Newfoundland, Canada and Australia.

Though born in Bridgeport, Allister moved to Carter’s Cove when he married Jean Farr and they raised their family. Though he turned his hand to various jobs in his adult life his greatest passion was working with his hands. He went back to school and specialized in small engine repair. Allister became known as the go-to man to fix anything and loved hanging out in his store and chatting with people as they brought in their broken machines. Allister loved the people in his life and greeted them with a smile, a big hug and a joke. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Resting at New World Island Funeral Home, Summerford, with public visitation on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place from the New World Island East Central United Church, Newville on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. V. Kingsbury officiating.

The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to Doctors Diamond and Hunt, along with the awesome compassionate nursing team at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre.
