Aubrey was born in the once prosperous fishing community of Moreton’s Harbour, of which he was very proud to call home. He spent his childhood there with his father Harry, and brothers Melvin, Lloyd, and Jerry. Sadly, his beloved mother passed away when he was at the tender age of 12. In adolescence, his ambition to begin making money in the fishing industry and collecting turrs was second to none. He completed grade ten and later decided to go to vocational school to become a carpenter and further succeeded in acquiring his Journeyman certificate. His ventures included building many homes, including the 1000th all electric home in Newfoundland, teaching carpentry in Charlottetown, Labrador, and opening a Newfoundland store in Marathon, Ontario. Although his profession took him throughout Canada, his compass was always pointed towards home. He was a hardworking man all of his life but took the time every Sunday to rest. And while the pot was boiling with his jigs dinner, he enjoyed catching up with his family over the phone. Once he laid his hammer down professionally he picked up his lifelong passion of crafting boats and decided to begin his autobiography. He may have finished that book here on Earth but his next story is just beginning.
