Austin Butler

It is with great sadness that the family of Austin Caleb Butler announce his passing at Notre Dame Memorial Hospital, Twillingate, on July 16th, 2025.

Austin was born on Samson Island in 1937. His mother passed when he was about 3-1/2 years of age and he went to live with his step sister Rita and her husband Harry Hill on Black Island. He moved to Cottles Island in 1960. He worked at fishing, in the lumber woods and for a number of years with the Pentecostal School Board. Austin was an excellent finish carpenter and a very hard worker.

Predeceased by his father, Samuel and mother, Susannah, daughter JoAnn, step-sons Raymond and Norman. Also by a large number of brothers and sisters and their spouses. 

Left to mourn are his loving wife Nina, daughter Susan, sons Eddie and Keith. Also step-daughters Paula (Derrick), Kathy and step-son Brian (Cathie) and a large circle of family and friends.

Resting at the Salem Pentecostal Church with public visitation on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place from the church on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 2:00  p.m. with Pastor R. Porter officiating.

Donations in Austin’s memory may be given to the Salem Pentecostal Cemetery Fund, Cottlesville, NL.
