Eli Canning

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eli Canning, age 80 years, of Birchy Bay, NL announce his passing at the James Paton Memorial Health Centre, Gander, NL on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

He is predeceased by his parents Stanley & Gladys, daughter Charlene, grandson Justin Jones, son-in-law Shawn Pike, siblings Gerald, Roger, Winston, Mabel, Pheobie (Norman) and sister-in-law Zeta Canning.

Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Giralda, daughter Tonya (Cordell), grandchildren Angel Crosby, Casey Jones, Tyler Jones, Tyson Matusiak, Mathew Canning, Danessa Pike, Cody Freake, Breanna Freake, siblings Randolph (Emma), Lindsay (Evelyn), Claude (Kathleen), Rickey, Daren (Jayne), Marina, sister-in-law Ruby Canning as well as a large number of extended family and friends.

Resting at the Beacon Pentecostal Tabernacle, Birchy Bay, NL with public visitation on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from the church with Pastor D. Rowe & Pastor J. Rowsell officiating.

Donations in Eli's memory may be given to the Alzheimer's Society.

Eli's first love in life was his wife Giralda whom he married on March 17, 1967. He first started working as a logger. Later moved out of the province, and began a career as a supervisor with Ontario Hydro until retirement. He gave his heart to the Lord in September 2015. Eli will be fondly remembered for his passion to sing.
