Ella Philpott Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Ella Philpott (Atkinson), 81, of Cottlesville, NL. Ella passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, surrounded by her family at the Health Science Center in St. John’s.

She was born on January 27, 1945, in Embree, NL, to Leo and Amanda (Minnie) Atkinson.

Ella was truly a pillar of her community and her church. She was known for her kindness, strength, and deep faith in God. She touched the lives of many through her warmth and willingness to always lend a helping hand. Whether through time spent with family, supporting neighbors, or simply sharing a kind word, Ella made everyone feel welcome and cared for. Everything she did, she did out of the goodness of her heart and with the greatest of humility.

She cherished her family above all else and found great joy in spending time with her loved ones. Her presence, guidance, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She leaves behind the love of her life, Larry Philpott. Anyone who knew them could see that theirs was a rare and enduring love - over 60 years spent side by side, sharing every moment, big and small. From building cabins, to hunting, fishing, planting and harvesting vegetables, they did it all together. They were truly inseparable, rarely apart and always happiest in each other’s presence. Whether in quiet companionship or joyful celebration, they lived as one, their lives deeply intertwined through decades of devotion. Larry will feel her absence in every moment, and she will be missed beyond measure by the man who loved her so completely.

She also leaves behind her four kids who she dearly loved; Michele Fraser (Shane), Angela Hodder (Owen), Kerry Philpott (Natalie), Denika Philpott. Her grandkids Corinna Francis (Mike), Keri-Lynn Cramm (Tyler), Jade Fraser, Rei Philpott, and Abigail Philpott. Great grandchildren Meredith, Amelia, Saion, and Madelynn. Her brothers Enurchas (Nurk) (Nellie) Atkinson and Roy (Vera) Atkinson.

Predeceased by her father and mother Leo and Amanda (Minnie) Atkinson, sister Phyliss McDonald, brother Stewart Atkinson, brother Tom Atkinson, sister Merle Atkinson, grandchildren Adam Rideout and Shakira Rideout.

Resting at the Cottlesville Community Church, Cottlesville, with public visitation from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2026. Funeral service will take place from the church on Sunday, May 23, 2026 at 2 p.m. with Pastor R. Porter officiating.
