It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Ford Thoms in his 93rd year. He died on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Lakeside Homes, Gander. Born on January 16, 1924 in Boyd’s Cove, NL. He was the son of the late David and Sarah (Freake) Thoms.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Pelley). Sons: Ford, Gary (Kelley), Michael (Maureen) and Paul, Daughter: Christina. Grandchildren; Sheldon (Stacey), Robert (Jennifer), Amanda, Sarah, Michael and Maria. Great Grandchildren; Alexander, Curtis, Jenna, Lauren, Bradley and Kaylee. Sister-in law: Shirley Thoms (wife of Frederick).
He was predeceased by Brothers: John William, Steward (June), Obed, Titus, David, Frederick (Vera) and Percy. Sisters: Lucy (Lambert Wells), Olive (Stanley Hewitt), Charlotte (Harry Wells, Edward Handcock & Ives Leyte) and Julia (Frank Luet). Daughter-in Law, Clara Thoms (wife of Gary).
Ford was successful businessman and a very hard worker but always found time to share with family and friends. For many years he was an active and dedicated member of St George’s church. He was a good card player, a wonderful story teller, loved a good laugh.
Public visitation will be held at St. George's Anglican Church, Boyd's Cove on Friday from 7- 9 P.M. Funeral service will take place from the church on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. G. Giles officiating.
Donations in Ford's memory may be given to St. George's Anglican Church.
