Gordon Cooper

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gordon Cooper, age 98 years, of Cottlesville, NL announce his passing at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate, NL on Friday, February 17, 2023.

He is predeceased by his parents Frederick & Maude, parents-in-law Baxter & Gertrude Patey and all of his siblings.

Left with fond and loving memories are his wife of 62 years Gladys, children Baxter (Gloria), Otto (Donna), Marie (Dennis), Pleman (Emily), Janette (Tom), 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Resting at New World Island Funeral Home, Summerford, NL with public visitation on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home chapel on Monday, February 20, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. for family and close friends, with Major Lillian Pelley officiating.

Donations in Gordon's memory may be given to The Janeway, St. John's, NL.

Gordon & Gladys were married on January 10, 1961. During 62 years of marriage, Gordon was sure to make every occasion a special one for Gladys.

At a young age he started his career as a Marine Engineer, which took him to many parts of Atlantic Canada, Scotland, Chile, just to name a few.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Long Term Care Unit of the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate, NL for all their care & compassion during his stay.
