Ivan George Anstey was born to Alma and Hubert Anstey, one of six children. The family resided in Summerford. When Ivan was a young teenager he went to work in lumber woods on the saw. It wasn’t long after that he got tangled up with Daisy Poole of Cottle’s Island and in no time at all they started a family and a baby boy was born, followed by eight more children. They were no strangers to sadness with the loss with their young son David and their baby girl. So, when his granddaughter Pam was born she became ‘His girl” and still was to his last day. But they knew fun as well, and Ivan enjoyed fun. Not a person would enter the Anstey home without being asked to stay for a meal or Ivan would say “Mudder get them a cup of tea.” Ivan left the lumber woods and joined the fishery. He spent many hours lobster catching and at the lobster camp in Basin Tickle. There were many hours of laughter and good friends as he fished. In later years the joy he received from sitting on a bucket on the pond or the saltwater, white fish catching, could never be measured. The thrill was heightened when his grandson Kyle would accompany him and the two would fish and fish. He enjoyed cleaning the white fish just as much, letting mother clean up the mess after. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren lit up his eyes like light bulbs when they would walk through the door.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
