James Newman

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Newman, age 71 years, announce his passing on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander.

James is predeceased by his life long partner Donna; step–daughter Heather; parents Gus and Nora; brother Brian; sister-in-law Laura; brothers-in-law Boyd, Mike, Wayne and niece Melissa Mullett.

Leaving to mourn sisters Helen, Betty (Cyril), Margaret, Theresa; daughter Heather Oxford; several nieces and nephews who knew him as “Jimmy”.

Special thank you to Lee and Gerard Pearce of Boyd’s Cove. Without your support and kindness, Jim’s transition to personal care would have been difficult.

A special thank you as well to the owner and staff at Ocean Breeze Retirement Home in Brown’s Arm. You are all very kind.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Inurnment will take place on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. from the United Church Cemetery, Summerford, NL.

We will reunite with you Jimmy when it’s our time.
