Jessie Hann Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jessie Hann, age 89 years of Virgin Arm at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre on January 1, 2023.

Jessie was a dedicated, loving wife and a very hard-working mother of 9 children for the majority of her life.  Raising such a large family in a small town wasn’t always easy, but she made sure her children never went without and she always wore a smile.  Family was everything to Jessie.  So, when her grandchildren & great - grandchildren came along, she was thrilled to share more of her wisdom and love.  Jessie loved company.  You never left her home without a lunch, a cup of tea and most importantly a hug.  Spending time with family & friends is what she loved most.  She also enjoyed knitting & quilting, going to church, going for Sunday drives, and she loved to bake.  You never had to look hard for a treat at Jessie’s as there were baked goods in every cupboard.  She wasn’t one to sit for long,  busy with lots of go. She was always up doing something around the house.  In later years, Jessie spent most of her time enjoying quality time with her dear son, Alvin. She also loved spending time with her cat Maggie whom she took in as a stray kitten that had shown up one day on her doorstep.  That’s just who Jessie was, loving, caring & always had open arms.  She loved Maggie dearly & gave her a wonderful home and Maggie absolutely adored her in return.  Jessie was such a strong & resilient woman, yet so soft & kind;  She was so very giving, warm & welcoming.  You always had fun in her presence, she not only lit up any room she entered, but she also filled it with laughter & love.  Jessie was certainly one of a kind.  She lived a long, fulfilled & happy life.  She was so very loved by all whom were blessed to know her.  Gone, but never forgotten.  Jessie will be dearly missed, but she will continue to live on in all of the hearts she touched along the way.

She is predeceased by her husband Edward, sons Larry, Bill, Rick & Brady, granddaughter Amanda, mother Pearl & stepfather Harry Legge, father George White, brother Gordon White, sister Olive and brother-in-law George Hann.

Left with fond and loving memories are her children: Alvin, Don (Gail), Velma (Lloyd) Hale, Patricia (Darren) Butler, Debbie (David) Frampton, daughters-in-law: Donna Hann (Melvin Wilton), Sylvia Rideout & Karen Burt, grandchildren: Robert (Melissa) Hann, Christopher (Christine) Hann, Greg Hann (Ciara Sinclair), Michael (Jumoke) Hale, Darryl Tobin (Brittany Bugden), Lindsay Tobin (Chris Corcoran), Sarah Frampton, Daniel Frampton (Kerri Williams), Emily (Chris) Pitts, Phillip Hann & Melanie Rideout (Adam Waterman), Amanda's surviving partner, Sheldon Swain, many great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law: Eileen White & Betty Combden, her dear friends Violet Chappell & Alice Hann, her beloved cat Maggie and a large circle of extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend a gracious thank-you to Jessie’s Homecare Workers Jeanette Burt & Danielle Jenkins and the lovely staff (especially her nieces Sherry Nichol, Thelma Churchill, and Mavis Burge) at the Long Term Care Unit at Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre whom all went above and beyond for Jessie and the family.
