Mary LeDrew Obituary

It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that the family of the late Mary LeDrew (nee Freake), age 93 years, of Boyd's Cove, NL  announces her passing at Lakeside Homes, Gander, NL on Thursday, May 7, 2020.

Preceded in death by her devoted husband Raymond, great-granddaughter Jill, brothers Harvey, Gordon, sisters Ina, Rita, Stella, Charlotte and sons-in-law Joe and John.

Mary was born July 16, 1926 to Obed & Elizabeth Freake. She later met Raymond LeDrew of Boyd's Cove, NL and on June 15, 1943 they sailed to Summerford, NL by boat to get married. After 11 years of marriage God blessed them with 4 sons and 1 daughter: Ross (Juanita), Rex (Doris), Evelyn, Clayton (Veneita) and Anthony (Yvonne). Mary left indelible memories to cherish forever along with her children she had 13 grandchildren: Wade (Jacqui), Todd (Shaun), Cathy (Mike), Glen (Lori), Colette (Brendan), Nerissa (Frank), Rossann (Brian), Dawn (Peter), Tracy (Kyle), Kerrilynn, RJ, Nadine, Kendra, 26 great-grandchildren: Ashley, Reegan, Dannisen, Cameryn, Zachery, Jacoby, Sarah, Jolan, Braden, Landon, Julie, Ryan, Katie, Tyler, Chelsea, Matthew, Jessie, Joel, Tyler, Candice, Abigal, Jesse, Logan, Brooklyn, Madaline, Jacob, 6 great-great-grandchildren: Lucus, Ryker, Tracaer, Gabrielia, Malia, Hudson, brother Donald, sister Joyce, sister-in-law Gertrude, brother-in-law Hubert as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.

She spent a lot of her time making quilts, knitting socks & mitts, cooking, baking, making jam and bottling preserves that she loved.

God blessed her with good health until her 80"s and even after issues she was able to stay at home until the last 11 years of her life.

The family remembers a life lived in calm and serenity of a home where love and respect stood as hallmarks shaping their lives and characters. She will be remembered by her family as a mom who loved them very much. When the grandchildren visited she always had some money to give them before they left.

She will surely be missed but not forgotten by her family and friends. They will cherish the memories built together on earth and we await that "glad reunion morning".

Her faith in God was paramount; she loved and faithfully supported her church, serving as a member of the Anglican Church Women for almost 75 years.
