It is with saddened hearts that the family of the late Meta Watkins, age 98 years, formerly of Cottlesville announce her peaceful passing at the James Paton Memorial Health Centre, Gander on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
She is predeceased by her parents Lindy & Jane Wall; husband Peter; infant son Everett; sons Harvey, Kevin; sisters Lila, Marion and brother Frank.
Left with fond and loving memories are her children Ted (Wavey), Annette (Dave), Joan (Bill); daughters-in-law Marilyn, Maxine; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother Duke (Marcia) as well as a large circle of nieces; nephews; extended family & friends.
Resting at New World Island Funeral Home, Summerford with family visitation on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. Public visitation will take place from the funeral home on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026 from the New World Island West Salvation Army Corps., Summerford at 2:00 p.m. with Major D. Anstey officiating.
Meta’s family would like the thank Pleasantview Manor, Lewisporte for their loving, compassionate care. It was Meta's home for 11 years and the staff were her beautiful angels whom she loved dearly. Also thank you to the staff of the Orthopedic Unit at the James Paton Memorial Health Centre, Gander.
Donations in Meta’s memory may be given to the Salvation Army Cemetery Fund, Cottlesville.
