Bob was born in Barr’d Islands to Stewart and Dorothy Combden on August 15, 1939. He moved to Virgin Arm in 1959 to teach, and this is where he met the love of his life, Betty Hann. They married in 1961 and shared many happy years together raising their four children. Bob always loved sports, from ‘playing ball on the ice’ in the old days, to softball and broomball, and of course faithfully cheering on the Blue Jays and Red Wings.
Bob spent most of his working life with Newfoundland Power, until his retirement in 1993. He was a loving, caring man, who always enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and sharing a good laugh. During his later years, he battled Parkinson’s disease, and throughout these hardships and challenges, was always more concerned about others, than complaining about his own situation.
Bob’s never wavering faith was built on a solid foundation as he was always prepared, knowing this day would eventually come.
