Tonya Gidge

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Tonya Gidge, age 38, at the L.A. Miller Centre on Wednesday February 18, 2026.

She is predeceased by her grandfather Larry Rideout, grandparents Eric and Millie Rideout and uncle Perry Rideout.

Lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her devoted husband, Mike, her rock and unwavering support; children Reece and Porter; parents Guy and Nancy Rideout; grandmother Ella Rideout (Keith); parents-in-law Lorne and Diane Gidge; sister-in-law Sarah (Keith); nieces Leah and Alexa; nephews Alexander and Nicholas; grandmother-in-law Marie Gidge and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Tonya was a loving, selfless and devoted mom to her two precious children, Reece “Mom’s Puddin’” and Porter “Mom’s Girl”. Being their mom was her greatest pride and joy. She treasured every moment spent with them - the laughter, the play and all the precious times they enjoyed together. Her love will continue to shine in their hearts every day.

Tonya was a dedicated nurse who cared for her patients with the same warmth and empathy she gave her family and friends. Through her work at Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre and in Ontario she formed numerous special connections and many of her colleagues became her closest and dearest friends. She valued all her friendships deeply, sharing laughter and unwavering loyalty.

She will be profoundly missed by her children, family, friends, colleagues, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey. Though her time with us feels far too short, her legacy of love, compassion and friendship will live on in all who carry her memory.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all medical staff who cared for Tonya during her illness. Especially the staff on 5 North B, Health Sciences Centre and the Palliative Care Unit at the Miller Centre.

A funeral service will take place for her family on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 1pm from the New World Island Funeral Home Chapel.

Donations in Tonya’s memory may be given to her family.
