With saddened hearts, the family of the late Tracy J. Canning, age 53, announce her passing on Monday, April 13, 2026, at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander.
Tracy was a gentle and joyful soul who brought warmth to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Living with special needs, she experienced the world with a pure and heartfelt perspective that reminded others of the importance of kindness, patience, and simple happiness.
She had a deep love for animals, finding comfort and companionship in their presence, and she delighted in spending time on her crafts. Whether creating something small or simply sharing a quiet moment doing what she loved, Tracy’s happiness was genuine and contagious.
Tracy was known for her sweet nature and bright spirit. Her smile could light up a room, and her laughter brought comfort and joy to those around her. She had a special way of connecting with people, leaving a lasting impression through her warmth and innocence.
Tracy is predeceased by her father Winston Canning; grandfathers Obediah Layte and Stanley Canning; grandmother Glady’s Canning; uncles Randolph Canning, Roger Canning, Eli Canning, Norman Blake, Danny Layte; aunts Phoebie Blake and Zeta Canning and best friend Vicki.
Left with fond and loving memories are her mother Ruby (Larry); grandmother Ruth Rideout; siblings Lori (Rod) and Risa (Grant); nephews Cody, Mitchell, and Liam; niece Katie; uncles Edgar (Patsy) Layte, Abel (Bernice) Layte, Brian (Marilee) Layte, Leamen (Lorraine) Layte, Lindsay (Evelynn) Canning, Rick (Winnie) Canning, Claud (Katherine) Canning, Darren (Jayne) Canning; and aunts Bonnie (Perry) Blake, Marina Canning, Emma Pope as well as her cousins; her friends and teachers at Calypso.
Tracy will be deeply missed and forever cherished. She leaves behind a legacy of love, gentleness, and joy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Resting at Beacon Pentecostal Tabernacle, Birchy Bay with public visitation on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place from the church on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor D. Rowe officiating.
