Vicky Anstey

Vicky Ann Anstey (nee Gaber) age 70 years, of Summerford passed away peacefully on April 5, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born to the late Albert and Sheila Gaber in Sweetsburg (Cowansville), Quebec. She grew up in Oakville, Ontario and loved spending summers in West Brome, Quebec with her grandparents.

Vicky met Alman in 1969 in Brampton, Ontario and they married on June 26, 1971. They moved to Summerford, NL in 1974 and raised 4 children together, Holly, Patricia, Mark and Jennifer. Mark brought Anita home in 1994 and she quickly became her fourth daughter, she loved her dearly. She was a wonderful mother, kind, thoughtful, loving and everything she did, she did for her children.

Vicky went to work at the Town of Summerford in 1981 as the Town Clerk Manager. Vicky considered the Town Building to be one of the greatest achievements in her 40 year career. Taking great pride in making Summerford a better community. She was proud to work with many great Councillors over the years and considered them friends. Vicky was also a life long volunteer, sitting on many boards and committees.

Vicky was an avid crafter, but loved quilting the most. She loved hanging out with her quilting friends and was known to say, “there’s no friends like quilting friends.”  Vicky loved her flowers and enjoyed seeing her deck in bloom every summer.

Vicky’s greatest love was her grandchildren. She loved it when they shared their lives with her and came to visit. She loved to attend their special events, especially sports. We often joked, she worked harder as a spectator than some of the kids.

Vicky leaves to mourn her children, grandchildren, a great grandchild, siblings, nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends.

Vicky was proceeded by husband Alman, parents Albert & Sheila, in laws Carl & Myra, sister Heather, Aunt Margaret, Uncle David and sister-in-law Betty.

Funeral service will take place from the United Church, Summerford on Sunday at 2:30 P.M.
